To provide awareness to the Alfonsos about the importance of donating blood considering the continuous rise of dengue cases, Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College (GADTC) conducted the 2019 blood donor day and accumulated one hundred and thirty (130) bags of blood from the faculty, staff and students, at the 2nd floor Lobby, Main Building, September 5.
With the full coordination and supervision of the Medical and Dental Clinic and the school nurse, Mrs. Francislee N. Famacion; Mr. Herbert Magsayo, from the CAES office and the Red Cross Organization of Tangub City, the activity was carried through successfully.
This yearly event was practiced since 2017 during the first term of Mrs. Famacion in her designation, though other blood donation activities conducted in the school were often facilitated by the ROTC unit.
GADTC had been overseeing this activity synchronized to the International blood donor day during the 2nd week of June, but since the academic activities of the school were changed this year, it was only administered this September.
It was stressed that the Institute of Criminal Justice Education had the most number of blood donors among the other institutes.
After they have donated, free snacks and lunch were given to the faculty and staff donors and snacks for the students.
The number of collected bags will then be given to the Red Cross Office to be utilized by anyone in need in the whole Misamis Occidental.
