GADTC takes on another milestone

"Despite the challenges posed by the Covid-19 pandemic, our journey towards quality and excellence continues,"  Dr. Maricelle M. Nueva, President of Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College (GADTC), said on the 1st day of the virtual Accreditation, November 25.

Amid the pandemic's surge, GADTC pursued further improvement to ensure the quality of education that the institution has been providing to its growing population of students. The virtual Accreditation started with a Holy Mass on Wednesday morning, while the observation of teachers and students in their respective virtual classrooms happened on the following days.

The accreditors from the Association of Local Universities and Colleges–Commission on Accreditation (ALCUCOA) for the nine programs were: Dr. Ma. Cecilia O. Martinez, Professor 3 in the Pamantasan ng Lungsod ng Manila, was the Program Accreditor for General Midwifery; Dr. Arnel Leonardo, Associate Professor of the Department of Social Sciences and Philosophy in the College of Arts and Letters and College of Education at the University of Makati (UMAK), is the program accreditor for Bachelor of Secondary Education major in Social Studies (BSEd-SocStud); Professor Catherine Catamora, the present Director of Education Technology Office at the Far Eastern University, is the program accreditor for Bachelor of Science in Computer Science (BSC); Dr. Rosenda A. De Garcia, Professional Lecturer in Psychology and Educational Management courses at Polytechnic University of the Philippines since 1987 to present, is the program accreditor for Bachelor of Science in Criminology (BS-Crim).

The Program accreditor for Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Bachelor of Arts in Communication was Dr. Albert Madrigal, a full time faculty at University of the Philippines (UP) Los Baños and the University President of Pamantasan ng Cabuyao; Professor Lutgarda Vallefas–Calupaz who is an Administrative and Finance specialist at U.S. commercial service and an Executive Assistant to the President in the ETI corporation in Manila, is the program accreditor for Bachelor of Science in Business Administration major in Human Resource Management (BSBA-HRM); Dr. Danilo S. Hilario, Doctor of Education in Industrial Management at the University of the Philippines and the present Accreditor in the Accrediting Agency of Chartered Colleges and Universities (since 1994), is also the program accreditor for Bachelor of Science in Office Administration (BS-OA); and Dr. Imelda Soriano, Doctor of Education Major in Educational Management, is the Supervising Accreditor of ALCUCOA and at the same time, the Program Accreditor for Bachelor of Secondary Education major  in Filipino (BSEd-Fil).

The Learning Resource Center (LRC) in GADTC was also reviewed by Prof. Angelee S. Domingo, the present Director for Learning Resource Center at Diliman College and Diliman Preparatory School (since 2006), as the Area Accreditor for Library.

The said Accreditation was headed by ALCUCOA President and Executive Director, Dr. Raymundo P. Arcega, together with the ALCUCOA team: the National treasurer; the Vice President, Dr. Elena Presnedi; National Secretary, Dr. Imelda Soriano; and the rest of the officers with the supervising technical assistant, Professor Kristin Mendoza, partnered with Mr. Luigi Miguel Maghinay.

The areas that the accreditors also checked were the following: Governance and Administration; Faculty, Curriculum, and Development; Student Development and Services; Entrepreneurship and Employability; Community Extension and Services; Research; Library; Physical Plant; and Laboratories.

On November 26, Document Review and Validation, classroom observations, Campus Tour (Physical Plant and Laboratories), Stakeholders' conference, and Community Extension to GADTC’s adopted Barangay all took place the morning of that day. On the 3rd day, November 27, classroom observation, interviews with students, parents/guardians, and LGU Tangub City officials were conducted via zoom. On the afternoon of that same day was the accreditation report's finalization.

GADTC Faculty, Staff, and Administration took 15 days or more to get all the documents and facilities finally ready for the three-day accreditation.

This continued pursuant of Accreditation of the mentioned academic programs ensured the quality of instruction and services to establish a College that is the premier institution on culture and the arts.
