Gov. Alfonso D. Tan College, along with two other locations in the City, now has Free WiFi Internet access through the Department of Information Communications Technology (DICT)–Mindanao Cluster in their Fee WiFi program.
In accordance with Republic Act 10929, called the "Free Internet Access in Public Places Act" Northwestern Mindanao State College of Science and Technology (NMSCST) and Doña Maria D. Tan Memorial Hospital (DMDTMH) were the two other sites in the City that have availed in this program.
"Public parks, plazas, and other open areas; public and private schools; State Universities and Colleges and TESDA institutions; Government hospitals and rural health units (RHUs); public libraries; and transport terminals are among the places that are beneficiaries of the Free WiFi program," as quoted from the post of DICT.
This Free WiFi program aims to address the need for stable internet connectivity as students have raised concerns before about their poor internet connection. This will be useful for students and teachers, government employees, and many others now that some transactions have shifted online.
DICT posted on their Facebook page, "This is in line with our vision that Internet Access is not a privilege for a few but a right for all.”
On September 24, four (4) other schools and locations in Bukidnon will be provided with internet connections to cater to every internet user's needs.
