Diploma in Midwifery is a 2 year-program consisting of general education and professional courses which equip the graduates with basic skills of a midwife.
Program Outcomes

Apply ethical, analytical, basic and advanced professional midwifery practice/expertise through genuine concern and respect for human rights in the creative and innovative care of the girl-child, adolescent, and the woman prior to, during, and after pregnancy through appropriate and effective communication, social skills and applied ICT skills

Provide ethical, innovative, and analytical primary health care services imbued with professional expertise, genuine concern and respect for human rights by utilizing effective communication, social skills and applied ICT skills for the betterment of the community.
When working in a group or individually, demonstrate ethical gender sensitivity, genuine concern and respect for human rights in dealing with clients through effective communication and social skills
Maintain, with genuine concern, a complete, accurate and timely documentation of ethical, and analytical professional expertise in client care, by utilizing effective communication and with the aid/application of information and communication technology.
When working in a group or individually, communicate ethical and analytical professional expertise effectively with clients using appropriate language, applied ICT skills, and with genuine concern.
Work with the community health team, by utilizing ethical and analytical professional expertise, applied ICT skills, and effective communication in organizing and mobilizing the community with genuine concern ,respect for human rights and differences and opinions towards health and human development through active participation in the environmental, socio-economic and cultural movements.
Perform ethical and analytical collaborative health related functions, by utilizing professional expertise, and applied ICT skills, within the scope of practice through active participation in the environmental, socio-economic and cultural movements in order to contribute meaningfully to the country’s development.
Practice analytical professional midwifery expertise ILOe1, with genuine concern, respect for human rights and differences, and applied ICT skills in accordance with standards of practice, existing laws and legislation, ethics and moral principles
Engage continuously in ethical and analytical professional growth and development activities using applied ICT skills for lifelong learning, betterment of the community, and meaningful contribution to the country’s development, and the whole of humanity.
Retention Policies
    A. Regular Student

    A student should carry the required load in a particular semester/term.

    A student should maintain a combined GWA of 80% and above in all major courses.
    B. On Probationary

   A student with a combined GWA grade below 80% in all major courses
-
    The academic load will be reduced by six (6) units in the succeeding semester;

    A probationary status ends when the student meets the required grades in all professional/major/core courses in a semester;

    A probationary student who fails to meet the combined GWA grade of 80% and above in all professional/major/core courses in two consecutive semesters will be advised to shift to other programs.
Terminal Requirements
Graduates of the Diploma in Midwifery are expected to be able to:

Complete the required hours in Clinical Practicum

Complete the required number of Handled Deliveries, Perineal Suturing and Actual Intravenous Insertions, and other clinical requirements set by the Professional Regulation Commission for board exam purposes.
